What can you expect?

This will be an interactive and educational event hosted by Diabetes Canada in partnership with Waterloo Wellington Diabetes. This special event is geared specifically for people with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and those who have been diagnosed as prediabetic.

The aim of this special event, taking place during Diabetes Awareness Month, is to give guests the tools they need to better manage this chronic condition and to lead a healthier, active lifestyle.

The expo will feature workshops discussing the financial impact of diabetes, how to make diabetes-friendly recipes, coping with diabetes and updates on research and treatment.

Hearing loss and diabetes

According to an article in the March 2014 issue of the Canadian Hearing Report called The Link between Diabetes Mellitus and Sensorineural Hearing Loss, "Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is one of the fastest growing chronic diseases of our era. Recent studies suggest that sensorineural hearing loss is more prevalent in diabetic patients than in people without the condition."

A simple, painless, non-invasive hearing test can reveal whether or not you have a hearing loss, to what degree and allows an Audiologist or Hearing Instrument Practitioner to recommend a custom hearing aid that's right for you and your budget.

Hearing Solutions staff has been invited to participate in this event and they'll be able to answer any of your hearing health questions. They can also schedule free hearing tests on the spot.
