‘How to connect your hearing aids to your Bluetooth devices’ video transcript

Hi, my name is Tracy Saunders and I’m an Audiologist with Hearing Solutions.

I’m registered with CASLPO, the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.

Today we’re going to talk about how to pair your hearing aids with a Bluetooth device.

Hearing aids can be paired with many different devices.

Some devices already have Bluetooth built in, such as cell phones, laptops and tablets.

Other devices don’t have Bluetooth built in and would require a Bluetooth adapter, but that would enable devices, such as televisions and even home phone landlines to be connected to your hearing aids.

In today’s episode I’m going to show you how to connect hearing aids to your cell phone.

Let me start by putting my hearing aids in and turning them on.

Now in my cell phone, I’m going to access the screen that allows me to look at my Bluetooth.

So, I’m going to go into settings…Bluetooth and look for devices.

On the Bluetooth streamer I’m going to set it up into pairing mode.

When the streamer’s in pairing mode it will flash a blue signal.

Once the streamer is flashing a blue signal it may take a few minutes for your cell phone or your Bluetooth device to find the streamer.

So just give it some time.

Once I see the name of my streamer, I click on it and it will ask me for a pairing code.

With hearing aids, the pairing code will always be zero, zero, zero, zero.

There, now I’ve paired my hearing aids to my cell phone.

I’m going to put the streamer around my neck and the phone in my pocket.

I can now take phone calls hands-free.

So, if somebody calls me I’ll be able to hear the conversation directly through my hearing aids.

So, I’ll hear the phone call in both ears, at a volume that’s clear for my hearing loss.

When the phone call comes in I simply have to press the button.

Enjoy making phone calls from your hearing aids.

It really is quite handy.

My name is Tracy Saunders and I’m an audiologist with Hearing Solutions.

Thanks for joining today’s episode where I spoke about how to pair your hearing aids with Bluetooth devices.

See you next time.
