Audiology Team
Audiologists have advanced university degrees (either a Masters or Doctorate) in Audiology, specializing in the study of hearing disorders and rehabilitation. They provide comprehensive diagnostic hearing evaluations to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment, and the specific treatment needed. They also select and dispense hearing aids.
We also employ Certified Hearing Instrument Specialists (HIS) who have extensive training in the selection and fitting of a wide variety of hearing instruments, and are licensed by the province. HIS’ are licensed to test hearing and to recognize the need for a full diagnostic evaluation with an Audiologist.
Communicative Disorders Assistants
Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDA) possess a graduate certificate in combination with various undergraduate degrees or diplomas in areas such as Linguistics, Early Childhood Education, Social Work and Educational Assistance.
Communicative Disorders Assistants receive their title after being specifically trained and educated through approved Communicative Disorders Assistant programs within Canada.
At Hearing Solutions, CDA’s work in an adjunctive capacity with our qualified Audiologists. They perform a variety of direct client care and clinical support roles within the clinic environment. Responsibilities range from qualifying clients for appropriate Audiology appointments, client file management, ordering and receiving of hearing aids, to performing maintenance procedures on hearing aids and other amplification devices.
